Vermont Business Magazine The Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center (CSC) has received a $150,000 grant from the James M Cox Foundation in support of its Love Your Lake capital campaign. The CSC’s Love Your Lake capital campaign is supporting the construction of its 22,180-square-foot new home on the Burlington waterfront: the Pomerleau Community Waterfront Campus and Raymond P Sullivan Sailing Education Center. Through this grant, the CSC will be closer to closing out the campaign. Cox Automotive is the parent company of Burlington's Dealer.com.
“This grant from the Cox Foundation is a wonderful display of their commitment to bettering the communities they do business in - from the entire CSC team, we thank you,” said Owen Milne, executive director of the Community Sailing Center. “We are incredibly grateful to have the continued support of Dealer.com as we move into this new chapter.”
The James M Cox Foundation, named in honor of Cox Enterprises' founder, provides funding for capital campaigns and special projects in communities where Cox Communications, Cox Automotive and Cox Media Group do business. Dealer.com, a Cox Automotive brand, is located in Burlington, and is a long-time community partner of the Community Sailing Center.
“As a national company, it’s great to see the good that nonprofits are doing for the communities where we do business,” said Rick Gibbs, Chief Product Officer of Cox Automotive. “Not only does the Community Sailing Center support one of the James M Cox Foundation’s priority areas, it supports three. That’s what made them stand out for this year’s grant. By providing access to the lake and education on how to protect it for generations to come, the Sailing Center is setting up Burlington’s community for success for the long run.”
“As a technology and innovation company, we are proud to see our community partners thrive and push their boundaries. Helping the Sailing Center move into this new and exciting chapter is an honor and we can’t wait to see what’s next for them,” said Mike Rother, Dealer.com’s Senior Vice President.
The CSC has currently raised $5.1 million of the $5.75 million campaign and encourages others who are interested in learning more about the campaign and how to get involved to visit www.loveyourlakevt.org.
