Vermont Business Magazine Several Vermont companies were recognized yesterday for their strong commitment to effective workplace safety at the Annual Vermont Safety & Health Council Meeting held in Stowe. The Governor’s Award for Outstanding Workplace Safety is the highest honor given by the State of Vermont to recognize an employer’s commitment to excellence in workplace safety and health policy and practice. These awards recognize specific companies that are committed to effective workplace safety and health.
The Governor’s Award for Outstanding Workplace Safety, presented by officials from the Vermont Department of Labor, was awarded to:
UTC Aerospace Systems: Large Business Recipient
Washington Electric: Small Business Recipient
Chittenden Solid Waste District: Public Sector Recipient
VHV Company: Most Improved Recipient

Established fourteen years ago, the awards are sponsored by Governor Peter Shumlin, the Vermont Department of Labor, and the Vermont Safety & Health Council.
