Green Mountain Power Contributes To Champlain College

Green Mountain Power, in an effort to stimulate more use of technology by the private sector to spur economic growth, has contributed $30,000 toward Champlain College’s capital campaign to help fund three new facilities at the college.
“We chose to make a significant contribution to Champlain College because of its importance to Vermont’s economic success and to Green Mountain Power. Champlain College has done an incredible job of preparing its students for the marketplace. Since an impressive two-thirds of its graduates remain in the Vermont workplace, our contribution will have a powerful influence on the educational achievement of Vermont’s future workforce,” said Christopher L. Dutton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Green Mountain Power.
"We're pleased to have the generous support of Green Mountain Power as we embark on the largest capital project in our history," said Champlain College President Roger H. Perry. "Because of Champlain's career focus and market-driven programs, we take great pride in the close working relationship we share with the Vermont business community."
The three facilities to be built create a foundation for emerging academic programs and enhanced campus life. They include a Center for Global Business and Technology, which will provide state-of-the-art facilities for industry-driven programs; a Student Life Complex for student activities; and the Main Street Suites residence hall, which will have apartment-style living.
Green Mountain Power’s Community Fund makes shareholder contributions to organizations in Green Mountain Power’s service territory and strategic gifts to significant statewide institutions. Consideration is given to local organizations that support thriving communities, environmental, health and safety programs, as well as education and children’s programs, such as youth activities and sports programs.
