Vermont Business Magazine Do you have an innovative product or creative concept? Do you need help in defining and refining your business concept and business pitch? Are you looking to court investors who can assist in producing your product or capitalizing your business? St. Johnsbury has again secured a spot in the statewide entrepreneurial competition known as Road Pitch, which will be hosted at Catamount Arts on August 4th. From Brattleboro to Grand Isle, see upcomiing Road Pitch schedule below.
Road Pitch is “a 4‐day road trip across Vermont in search of the best and brightest entrepreneurs,” according to the announcement from Fresh Tracks Capital, a venture capital firm focused on seed and early stage financing that supports businesses in Vermont and surrounding regions. Road Pitch brings together venture capitalists, “Road Warriors,” who travel through the state on their motorcycles, stopping at select communities where they offer advice and possible capital as they seek out the next big “thing.”
The Town of St. Johnsbury, Northeastern Vermont Development Association, Northern Communities Investment Corporation, the St. J Chamber and the VT Small Business Development Center are all providing staff support for this event. Financial support is provided by Passumpsic Savings Bank and Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
Interested business owners are invited to attend the St. Johnsbury Road Pitch training event on June 6th from 1 to 4 pm at the offices of NVDA on Eastern Avenue in St Johnsbury. The training will be held by the VT Small Business Development Center staff and will cover the basics – how to succinctly describe your concept and market opportunity, introduce your management team and their skills, and how to effectively convey why your idea is great, unique and scalable. Register now for the training event by emailing email@example.com, or calling (802)424-1423.
After completing the training, applicants can submit a complete Road Pitch Application, and up to FIVE entrepreneurs will be chosen to compete for cash prizes at the Road Pitch Event on Aug. 4th. These entrepreneurs will also receive one-on-one coaching and pitch training in order to refine their 7-minute pitch prior to the event. The winner of the St. Johnsbury Road Pitch event will be invited to compete in the final statewide “Pitch-Off” event which will be held the evening of October 18th, sponsored by and held at Champlain College.
