One Week After Opening for Summer Operations, Killington Resort, Home of the Longest Ski and Snowboard Season in the East, Announces June 2 Closing Date for Skiing
Vermont Business Magazine Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest mountain resort in Eastern North America and a POWDR company, announced that June 2, 2019 will be the final operating day of the 2018/19 winter season making it the longest ski and snowboard season in Eastern North America. The last time Killington offered lift serviced skiing in June was 2017 and in 2002 prior to that.
The Superstar Express Quad will spin 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Friday, May 31 and 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2. Lift tickets will be $30* for all ages each day. Complimentary commemorative t-shirts will be available to the first 500 guests to load Superstar Express on June 1, and the Roaring Brook Umbrella Bar will feature live music, free Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream for about 500 people starting at 3:00 p.m., an outdoor grill and views of the ski and snowboard action all day.
“When lift operations conclude on Sunday, we will have offered 211 days of skiing and riding here at Killington,” says Mike Solimano, president and general manager of Killington. “I’m thankful to the entire Killington team for providing such an outstanding season to our dedicated season pass holders and guests. We can’t wait to see everyone for one last weekend of skiing and tailgating, and look forward to serving up an adventure-filled summer.”
Summer operations at Killington began this past weekend so guests looking to participate in more than one activity can take advantage of the Beast 365 Pass trial ticket which will provide access to skiing and riding, biking, golfing and the adventure center for the entire weekend for $102 or less. Guests can then choose to upgrade their trial ticket to the full Beast 365 Pass, which provides unlimited access to the best of Killington all year round. The Beast 365 Pass and other 2019/20 season passes are on sale through June 13.
The Killington snowmaking team began making snow on the Superstar trail on October 16 in preparation of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup and continued stockpiling snow right through March using its industry-leading snowmaking technology and experience. Snow depths were in excess of 30 feet on most of the trail once snowmaking efforts concluded and Killington’s world class grooming team has worked to preserve that snow since.
Killington groomers plan to patch up any bare spots that come through with this week’s rain with a goal of providing continuous top to bottom skiing and riding throughout the weekend although some walking may be required as the weekend progresses.
Visit www.killington.com/conditions for the daily conditions report where any changes to the operating plan as a result of weather or conditions will be posted.
*No discounts or other promotions may be used in conjunction with the $30 lift tickets.
