Be a Buddy! 9th Annual Champlain Valley Buddy Walk, Sunday, Oct 7

Champlain Valley Down Syndrome Group The 9th Annual Champlain Valley Buddy Walk will take place at Burlington's Battery Park on Sunday, October 7, with on-site registration opening at noon and the walk commencing at 1 PM. More than 200 people are expected to attend the event, which is one of 250 Walks across the country this fall to raise awareness and funds for programs that benefit people with Down syndrome and their families.

The Champlain Valley Down Syndrome Group, comprised of over 45 local families, encourages everyone to “Be a Buddy!” and join the Buddy Walk in support for friends and community members with Down syndrome.

The one-mile round-trip Buddy Walk starts from Battery Park and winds through downtown Burlington, including the Church Street Marketplace. The whole trip takes about one-half hour. Refreshments will be available before the walk, and we will enjoy Ben & Jerry's ice cream after. The event is rain or shine.

Online registration for the event is open until noon on Saturday, October 6 at All participants ages 10 years and older must register for the event and the cost is $8 per person, with the maximum registration cost of $30 for a family.


On-site registration will also be available at Battery Park on the day of the event; costs for same-day registration increase to $10 / person (with the same $30 cap per family). A waiver must be signed by each participant ages 18 years and older (parents may sign for their children). Those wishing to register on-site are asked to bring cash or a check as we are not able to process credit cards on location. A limited number of t-shirts will also be available for purchase at Battery Park.

Additional donations may be made by first clicking on the "TICKETS" button and then entering the donation amount for the ticket type labelled "DONATION."
