Vermont Business Magazine Barr Hill Gin by Caledonia Spirits, based in Hardwick, has initiated its first nationwide, mission-driven campaign, Bee's Knees Week. This week-long celebration (Sept 25-Oct1) has brought together over 350 bars and restaurants across the country to raise a glass for a good cause. During Bee’s Knees Week, participants will serve their variation of the classic Bee’s Knees cocktail and donate a portion of the proceeds to five bee and pollinator focused organizations that align with Caledonia Spirits' Landcrafted mission.
Ryan Christiansen, President and Head Distiller of Caledonia Spirits said, “Bees are one of the planet’s most critical species. Our mission at Barr Hill was founded on supporting the health of the hive. The concept of Bee’s Knees Week started as a discussion about the importance of bees for our products and our own business. As that conversation evolved, we realized how important this topic is to the world. It’s about awareness, and we have a responsibility to share this awareness wherever we have a voice. It’s vital for the planet, and it’s our responsibility to begin the conversation,”
Events are happening in all 31 US states and Quebec where Barr Hill Gin is distributed. Find out more about participating bars and restaurants near you at https://www.drinkbeesknees.com/venues/
The Week: Bee’s Knees Week has over 350 participating venues committed to donating a portion of proceeds for every Bee’s Knees Cocktail sold. Outside of these venues offering a twist on the Prohibition-style cocktail, many locations are celebrating with special events with beekeepers, observation beehives, local honey, offering a full cocktail menu of Bee’s Knees variations, and more! For an event near you check out Caledonia Spirits’ Facebook Event page.
Contest: Barr Hill Gin by Caledonia Spirits is encouraging participants to drive additional awareness by sharing photos of their cocktails throughout the week. They are asking people to take a photo or video of their Bee’s Knees Cocktail and post with the event hashtags #DrinkBeesKnees and #ReasonToBee. Posts must tag Caledonia Spirits (@caledoniaspirits) with one or more platforms (Facebook,Twitter or Instagram) and the venue where they purchased the drink. Barr Hill Gin by will randomly select three winners to receive a customized Barr Hill Swag Pack!
Doing more: Individuals can do more than just purchase a cocktail. If they’re passionate about contributing to these organization’s causes, they can donate directly through the donation campaign pages set up for Bee’s Knees Week: The Bee Cause Project, The Pollinator Partnership, The Honeybee Conservancy, Honey Love, and People & Pollinators Action Network. Anyone interested in participating during the week and who would like to stay up-to-date on details, events, and all things bees can sign up for the Bee’s Knees Week Enews.
Sponsors: Thank you to Bee’s Knees Week’s first year sponsors: The Farmhouse Group, Prime Wine & Spirits, Waterworks Food + Drink, The Vermont Department of Tourism & Marketing, Best Bees, and Bacchus Importers, Ltd.
