Fletcher Allen names Adam Buckley first Chief Medical Information Officer

Company: Fletcher Allen Health CareFletcher Allen Health Care has selected Adam P. Buckley, MD to be Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), a newly-created position.
As CMIO, Dr Buckley will serve as a liaison between Fletcher Allen providers and the Information Systems department to ensure that clinical information systems are being maximized to improve the quality and efficiency of patient care.
Dr. Buckley was most recently at Beth Israel Medical Center, a 1,000-bed teaching hospital in New York City, where he held leadership roles in several quality improvement and information technology projects including the design and implementation of an electronic medical record for obstetric care.
He was an assistant professor at Beth Israel from 2000-2004 before moving to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he spent five years as medical director of Labor and Delivery and associate residency director in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He returned to Beth Israel in 2009.
Dr. Buckley graduated from George Washington University Medical School in Washington D.C. and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
He will spend approximately 20 percent of his time seeing OB/GYN patients which will allow him to encounter information technology systems from a provider’s perspective.
