Companion Aide Pat Titus has earned the designation of Employee of the Month for September, 2017 at Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC). As a Companion Aide, Titus is responsible for the many aspects of the well-being of her assigned patients such as helping with grooming, ensuring a bright, clean room, reading, conversing, and providing emotional support.
“Pat always goes above and beyond,” said Titus’s supervisor, Sharon Laskevich. “She has each patient’s best interests in mind. No matter who you are, colleague, visitor, or patient, she always has a smile and a willingness to pitch in and lend a hand. She doesn’t just sit with patients. She cares for their safety, health, and well-being.” Laskevich continued, “Pat understands that being in the hospital can be emotionally challenging, particularly for older patients who may have less family support. For anyone who is in the hospital, it’s good to have a friend, and Pat is a great friend. She relates to patients as people first, who may be experiencing an illness or injury, but who deserve comfort and dignity at all times. We know strong morale can lead to better outcomes, which is why Pat is such an important part of the care team.” Titus has been an employee of MAHHC since 2009. She resides in Windsor, Vermont.
