Porter named new Director of Tennis at the Woodstock Inn & Resort

Gary S Thulander, president and general manager of the Woodstock Inn & Resort, announced the appointment of Andrew Porter as director of tennis at the Woodstock Athletic Club. As Director of Tennis, Porter will cultivate the tennis programming at the Woodstock Inn & Resort by further developing instruction, clinics, tournaments, social programs, and ushering in a new era of tennis excellence. “Andrew brings an array of coaching experience to the Woodstock Inn & Resort,” said Thulander. “We are thrilled to have a professional with his expertise and background join the Woodstock Athletic Club, and are confident that he will meet and exceed the expectations of our members and guests.”

Most recently, Porter served as the assistant coach for the men’s tennis team at Dartmouth. For more than 10 years he has coached junior ranked players and directed elite adult tennis programs across the country.

Picking up a racket at an early age, Porter learned the sport from the world’s best coaches and trained extensively under famed tennis coach Nick Bollettieri at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. Competing at the collegiate level for California Lutheran University, he lead the team to a top 10 national Division III ranking.

Off the court, Porter is Harvard University graduate currently pursuing an executive MBA at Babson College, Olin School of Business. He also serves on the board of CHaD HERO, the premier fundraising and athletic event benefiting CHaD, Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

The Woodstock Athletic Club at the Woodstock Inn & Resort is a 42,000-square-foot facility housing 12 tennis courts: 10 outdoor, six of which are clay and four hard court, as well as two indoor courts. The club offers court rentals, tennis lessons from USPTA-certified instructors, and variety of clinics that cater to a range of playing capabilities.
