Vermont Federal Credit Union (VFCU) is excited to provide four, $2,000 scholarships in 2017. Scholarships were awarded to graduating high school seniors, Trevor Houchens and Matthew Stanley, as well as Kyle Ehler-Vock and Kathryn Gates who are currently enrolled in higher education. Trevor Houchens graduated in June from South Burlington High School.

Mobius is excited to announce the addition of Sarah Caliendo to its statewide Board of Directors. Caliendo brings a passion for supporting young people and seven years of experience in the youth mentoring field to the Mobius Board. “When I started my journey at DREAM I had no previous experience with mentoring, and wasn't sure how effective it could be,” said Caliendo.

Okemo Mountain Resort Ski + Ride School Supervisor and Instructor Katie Brinton was named one of Ski Area Management’s "10 Under 30" in the July 2017 issue of the magazine. Brinton, age 27, of Water Mill, NY, made her first turns on snow as a Ski-Wee at Okemo. She is now a PSIA Alpine Level III certified instructor and trainer. “I grew up skiing there [Okemo Mountain Resort],” Brinton said.

The sixteen appointed members of the Vermont Commission on Women (VCW) have re-elected Marcia Merrill of Jericho to serve a 5th term as Chair. Ms Merrill has served in this leadership role since 2006.

The DREAM Program, a Village Mentoring organization that partners college student mentors with youth from affordable housing neighborhoods across Vermont, is excited to welcome a new member to the Vermont Committee of our Board of Directors.

Joseph L Choquette III, external affairs manager at Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC, has been named Rotarian of the Year 2016-2017 in recognition of his dedication and service to the Rotary Club of Montpelier, Vt. Presented at the first club meeting of the new year on July 10 by outgoing President Susan Kruthers, Choquette was surprised and honored to have been recognized.

Dr Ellamarie Russo-DeMara has moved full time to Gifford’s Twin River Health Center, where she will focus on providing comprehensive women's health services. A board certified OB/GYN since 1990, and at Gifford since 2005, she became the first menopause practitioner in Vermont in 2011. Dr Russo-DeMara provides routine gynecological care, contraception, and menopause consultation and treatment.

Ryan Cloutier, LS has joined VHB as a Survey Manager in the firm’s growing South Burlington, Vermont office. Two University of Vermont-affiliated research teams have been awarded SPARK-VT grants by the university to help commercialize their work and move it a step closer to the marketplace.

Vermont Woodworking School (VWS) has hired Daphne Zencey to fill the new role of Administrative Director. Zencey will run the day to day operations at VWS, to include managing the programs, community classes and the 15,000 square facility—a historic dairy barn turned woodworking school— located in Fairfax, Vermont.
