GMP crews restore power to 16,000 overnight
Green Mountain Power crews and support staff restored power to almost all of the 17,000 GMP customers who lost power Monday evening. Less than 1,000 GMP customers remain without power this morning with the majority of the outages in Franklin County. The remaining outages should be repaired by early afternoon.
A series of thunderstorms containing heavy rainfall, intense lightning large hail and isolated pockets of high winds moved through the state overnight. Crews were deployed from south to north where the majority of the wind events occurred.
If customers experience an outage they can report it on the company’s website at www.greenmountainpower.com or by calling-1-888-835-4672. A report on current outages is always available at www.greenmountainpower.com or www.vtoutages.com.
Storms and power outages can present serious risks to customers, including risks related to flooding, downed wires, generator use, and voltage problems. Green Mountain Power reminds people never to attempt to remove tree or limbs from a utility line and to stay away from downed lines.
