Ed Colodny Joins Dinse, Knapp & McAndrew, P.C.
Dinse, Knapp & McAndrew, P.C., a business and litigation law firm with offices in Burlington, Vermont and Plattsburgh, New York, announced today that Edwin I. Colodny, Esq. has joined the firm as “of counsel” and that Spencer R. Knapp, Esq., who served under Mr. Colodny as Fletcher Allen Health Care’s Acting General Counsel, will remain with the firm as its President, following his engagement by Fletcher Allen as General Counsel in December.
Prior to joining the firm, Edwin I. Colodny served as interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Fletcher Allen Health Care from October, 2002 to October 2003. Prior to his service at Fletcher Allen, Mr. Colodny served as interim President of the University of Vermont.
Before returning to Burlington in 2001, Mr. Colodny served as President and Chief Executive Officer of US Airways, Inc. from 1975 to 1991, was also President and Chief Executive Officer of US Airways Group from 1978 to 1991 and Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1978 to 1992. Mr. Colodny served as of counsel to the law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP in the Washington, D.C. office from 1991 until September 2002. Mr. Colodny is a native of Burlington, Vermont. He received an A.B. degree with distinction in 1948 from the University of Rochester, and a LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1951.
Spencer R. Knapp has served as President and Managing Partner of Dinse, Knapp & McAndrew since 1993. He is an experienced business adviser with more than 25 years of broad-ranging experience in corporate and health care matters. Mr. Knapp served as outside general counsel to Medical Center Hospital of Vermont, one of Fletcher Allen's predecessor organizations, at the time of Fletcher Allen's organization in 1995 and was the first Vermont health lawyer to be recognized in the publication Best Lawyers in America. He was initially engaged through the firm to serve in the role of Acting General Counsel of Fletcher Allen under Mr. Colodny in October 2002. His engagement as General Counsel became effective in December 2003. As General Counsel, he will oversee all of Fletcher Allen’s legal affairs. While he fulfills his duties at Fletcher Allen, Mr. Knapp will remain active in the firm and will continue to serve as its President and Managing Partner.
Mr. Knapp received a B.A. with honors from Trinity College (Hartford) in 1971 and a J.D. with honors from Cornell Law School in 1975.
