CDC national diabetes prevention program offered at Gifford

Tue, 12/19/2017 - 9:18am -- tim

Vermont Business Magazine Gifford Health Care’s Community Health Team is partnering with Vermont Blueprint for Health to offer the CDC-approved PreventT2 diabetes prevention program, which can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Prediabetes (when blood sugar levels are higher than normal) puts people at risk for developing serious health conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, stroke, and heart disease.

(To see if you are at risk take the test at doihaveprediabetes.org/prediabetes-risk-test.html .)

Trained PreventT2 facilitators can teach you about small lifestyle changes—setting physical exercise goals, healthy eating, managing stress, and behavior modification—that can help reverse prediabetes. Participants in this free year-long program meet weekly for sixteen weeks followed by twice a month and then once a month meetings for a total of 22 sessions.

Learn more about this class and register on Saturday, January 13th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Gifford Conference Center. Contact Megan Sault, 728-7714 or msault@giffordmed.org for more information or to sign up.
