People's United Bank awards $250 to Volunteers in Action

Vermont Business Magazine People’s United Bank announced that it has awarded $250 to Volunteers in Action in Windsor, Vermont. Founded in 1997, Volunteers in Action became affiliated with Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in 2001. Volunteers in Action organizes volunteers to provide a range of assistance to neighbors, mainly the elderly, disabled, and low-income, in order to make it possible for those individuals to remain in their homes and in the best possible health.

“This donation from People’s United Bank will help us support the daily activities involved with our much needed community programs, such as our Support and Services at Home (SASH) and our Meals on Wheels Program,” stated Martha Zoerheide, Program Director, Volunteers in Action.

The Meals on Wheels Program partners with Senior Solutions to provide 400 to 450 healthy meals each week to individuals over age 60 in local towns. In addition to providing a nutritional meal, this program also helps to provide a visit with old friends and reduce the feeling of isolation.
