VTGFOA Fall Workshop

The Vermont Government Finance Officers’ Association (VTGFOA) is excited to announce its annual Fall Workshop, held at the Windjammer Inn and Conference Center in South Burlington on Friday, October 24, 2014.  This half day workshop features two topics that will benefit municipal finance professionals, certified public accountants, municipal managers, select board members and nonprofit organizations statewide.

The workshop will begin with a timely review of Statements 63 and 65, recently issued by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).  Our discussion will focus on the two new financial statement elements – deferred inflows of resources and deferred outflows of resources.

The second session, entitled “Fraud, Waste and Abuse: What Government Officials Need to Know about Employee Theft and How to Combat It” will be led by our keynote speaker, Christopher Marquet, CBA.  Mr. Marquet is an expert on the topics of fraud and embezzlement; he is the founder and CEO of Marquet International; and the publisher of the annual Marquet Report on Embezzlement.
