VERMONT ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS INTRODUCES LEADING EDUCATION FORUM FOR
LOCAL REALTORS IN GREEN DESIGNATION, INCREASING VALUES FINANCIALLY AND
ENVIRONMENTALLY WITH HOMES AND COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS

September 2009 (South Burlington, VT) - Green Designation will connect
professionals from the industries of residential real estate, commercial
real estate, and property management with the principles of green as well
as with green building trends and practices. Once completed, REALTORSR
will understand how the issues of green and sustainability impact all
facets of real estate--from smart growth, new urbanism, and community
development to the factors that make a home or building green to today's
generation of green clients and customers.

Vermont's real estate leaders are gathering September 29 and 30 at the
Sheraton Burlington Hotel and Conference Center to introduce and provide
the education for their members, local REALTORSR, of the nationally
recognized Green Designation.

"Vermont is a natural fit to be a leader with Green Designation," said
Bob Hill, Executive Vice-President of the Vermont Association of Realtors.
"The Green Designation program provides the foundation in education that
your local REALTOR will use in assisting future home buyers looking for
energy efficiency.  In addition, VAR is partnering with Efficiency Vermont
to offer a course on Green Building, and we have also added a workshop that
explains Vermont's Residential Energy Code.  It is the new reality that
home buyers are looking for energy efficiency, and Realtors will continue
to add value to the real estate transaction through these green
practices."

RealtorsR who have earned the Green Designation (developed through
NAR-the National Association of Realtors) are prepared to help consumers
and clients in their search for environmentally friendly properties and
work to incorporate green principles into their own practice. The Green
Designation indicates knowledge of industry rating programs and standards,
such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification,
ENERGY STAR qualifications, and the Home Energy Rating System (HERSR)
index.

The Vermont Association of REALTORSR (VAR) was founded in 1945, and is a
non-profit trade association serving over 1800 members from every community
in the state of Vermont, and the parent organization of the 13 local
REALTORR Associations in Vermont.  In addition to legislative advocacy to
protect members and property owners alike, the organization offers a full
range of services including continuing education, real estate transaction
forms and up to date information on real estate issues.  It is part of the
nation's largest trade and professional organization, the National
Association of REALTORSR, established in 1908.  The REALTORR organization
is a voluntary association whose members must adhere to a strict code of
ethics.
