David Blittersdorf to Present Ideas for Promoting a Low-Carbon Emissions Future at
Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists Event

Williston, Vermont…October 26, 2010……David Blittersdorf, CEO of AllEarth Renewables and founder of NRG Systems, has been invited to participate in a panel discussion about climate change and the future of renewable energy at the Doomsday Clock Symposium. The symposium will take place at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C. on Friday, November 5th, 2010.  Blittersdorf’s two fellow panelists will be leading climate-change scientists James Hansen, Director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and Tony Haymet, Director of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego.

This will be the second annual symposium organized by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, an organization established in 1945 by scientists, engineers, and other experts who had created the atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project and later devoted themselves to warning the public about the consequences of using nuclear weapons. The two-day event presents ideas and discussion on a variety of topics such as nuclear proliferation, climate change and the promises and perils of synthetic biology.

Blittersdorf has been a leader in developing new technologies for wind and solar energy systems and in creating renewable energy jobs in Vermont. He founded NRG Systems in 1982 and AllEarth Renewables in 2005. He serves as treasurer of both the Small Wind Certification Council and the Distributed Wind Energy Association, and is a founding and current board member of Renewable Energy Vermont. Blittersdorf also sits on the Board of Advisors for the Union of Concerned Scientists, the University of Vermont’s Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center.
