Pianist Gleb Ivanov to return to Paramount Theatre to open second annual “Passages at the Paramount” Series - October 24, 2009 8pm
The Paramount Theatre announced today that the second annual “Passages at the Paramount,” Series will open Saturday, October 24 at 8:00PM with the return of Russian pianist Gleb Ivanov. Executive Director, Bruce Bouchard commented, “There are two key things here; one, that we are so very excited to be bringing back the “Passages at the Paramount” Series as part of our 2009/2010 Season, and two, that the extraordinarily gifted piano virtuoso, Gleb Ivanov will open the series.” Bouchard continued, “Gleb’s concert last season, which concluded with an astonishing rendition of ‘Pictures at an Exhibition,’ was for me, one of the performance highlights of last season. Gleb is simply not to be missed.”
The Paramount Theatre is collaborating for the second consecutive year with Young Concert Artists, Inc. (NYC) in our presentation of international first-prize award winners in classical music. Last season, two of the four featured artists (Narek Hakhnazaryan, Cello and Pius Cheung, Marimba) played their celebrated Carnegie Hall debuts just days following their appearances at the Paramount. Bouchard commented, “This is an extraordinary opportunity for South Central Vermont audiences to see world-class artists on the cusp of important soloist careers.”
Russian pianist GLEB IVANOV is “eerily like the ghost of Horowitz...His talent is larger than life,” wrote The Washington Times. This summer, Mr. Ivanov appeared as a soloist in two performances with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, performing the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto and the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto and will be featured in the 2009/2010 performance season as a soloist at the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston as well as concerto appearances with the South Bend and Bowling Green Western symphony orchestras, the Westmoreland, Southwest Florida and Peoria symphonies, and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.
