Candidates for Lieutenant Governor to Debate on Vermont Public Television Oct. 14

On Thursday, Oct. 14, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Vermont Public Television (VPT) will present the second in a weekly series of live candidate debates. All candidates on the ballot for lieutenant governor have been invited to participate.

The candidates and their affiliations are Peter Garritano, independent; Steve Howard, Democratic; Marjorie Power, Progressive; Phil Scott, Republican; and Boots Wardinski, Liberty Union.

Vermont Public Television will broadcast the debate statewide and webcast it on vpt.org. There will be a web chat during the debate with host Anne Galloway of vtdigger.org.

Moderator Mark Johnson will ask questions of the candidates, including selected questions from the public. VPT invites people to call (802) 655-8046 up to the day before the debate and record a question. VPT is also taking questions by email at connect@vpt.org.

VPT’s debates offer voters the opportunity to see major party, minor party and independent candidates for the office in the same forum. VPT’s local and national election-year content is intended to help citizens make informed decisions at the polls.

Senior executive producer is Joe Merone.
