BMH Gastroenterologist to Talk About Colon Cancer and Acid Reflux
As part of the Wellness in Windham County Fall 2010 series, BMH gastroenterologist Jeffry Potash, MD, will present a program on Monday, October 25, at 7:00 p.m. His topic of discussion will include common gastrointestinal problems.
Dr. Potash says that although colon cancer and acid reflux are not related, they are the two most common reasons for a patient to see a physician in his specialty of stomach and intestinal issues. Early diagnosis and treatment is easier and less costly, so looking for cancer before a person has any symptoms to suggest a problem has become an important part of the healthcare system. Colon cancer screenings can enhance the patient’s quality of life or actually save it.
The BMH gastroenterologist will also discuss the diagnosis and treatment of acid reflux which affects many millions of people in the US on a daily basis. His talk will address differences between diverticulosis and diverticulitis, along with any other issues the audience wants to discuss. Bring your questions, and Dr. Potash will try to answer them.
Dr. Potash received his doctor of medicine at the University of Miami (Florida) School of Medicine, after which he served his internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami, Florida). He served a fellowship in gastroenterology, and is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
