Local Chefs Compete to End Senior Hunger
The Top Chef of the Champlain Valley benefits CVAA's Meals on Wheels
Burlington, VT- Keybank presents the 6th annual CVAA Top Chef of the Champlain Valley. Shawn Calley of Amuse at the Essex Resort & Spa will defend his title against Michael Clauss of the Bluebird Tavern and Andrea Cousineau of the Bearded Frog. The Top Chef of the Champlain Valley will be held on August 6 at UVM's Davis Center from 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Advance tickets are $40 and are available at www.cvaa.org or 865-0360. The Top Chef benefits CVAA’s Meals on Wheels program. Each year CVAA delivers over 230,000 Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in the Chittenden, Addison, Franklin and Grand Isle counties.
The Top Chef of the Champlain Valley is the culinary event of the summer. There will be gourmet appetizers from the area's top chefs, a wine and beer tasting hosted by Shelburne Vineyard and Fiddlehead Brewery, live music, and a silent auction that includes the Walt Disney World Escape, the New England Patriots Package, and the Saratoga Ferrari Wine and Fine Food Festival Experience.
This year, in addition to the Top Chef Competition, there will be a fan favorite battle happening in the ballroom. Some of the area's top restaurants will be participating in the Taste of the Top Chef. Restaurants and catering companies will be donating hors d'oeuvres for the audience at the Top Chef to enjoy. Attendees can place their vote for the winning chef in the Taste of the Top Chef Competition.
For the first time there will be a VIP Reception preceding the Top Chef competition brought to you by The Arbors at Shelburne. People attending the reception will get a chance to meet the chefs and the judges and will receive VIP seating at the Top Chef Competition. Tickets to the VIP Reception (which includes admittance to the Top Chef Competition) are $60.
The Top Chef of the Champlain Valley supports sustainable farming. Only local produce and proteins are used by the competitors. The Top Chef of the Champlain Valley is part of a campaign to Strike Out Senior Hunger by 2020.
CVAA is a non-profit organization that empowers seniors to live well. CVAA works with seniors and caregivers, offering guidance and providing the support and services they need, when they need them. With the help of community partners and volunteers, CVAA serves over 10,000 seniors.
