Fre Family-to-Family Education Course

NAMI-Vermont announces the FREE Family-to-Family Education course for families of persons diagnosed with serious mental illness.  This 12-week class will start in Springfield, Berlin and St. Johnsbury in September 2009. 

            The renowned course will cover information about the major mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression, coping skills such as handling crisis and relapse, basic information about medications, listening and communication techniques, problem-solving skills, recovery and rehabilitation, and self-care  The course will be taught by NAMI-Vermont volunteers who have taken intensive training to become course instructors.

            This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the challenges of living with someone with mental illness while finding emotional support, self-care and empowerment.  The course is designed specifically for parents, siblings, spouses, teen-age and adult children and significant others of persons with severe mental illness.
