BMH Hosts 2nd Annual Touch A Truck Event, Saturday, September 11th
Do you remember as a child being fascinated by trucks? Have you watched your children or grandchildren sit mesmerized watching a dump truck raise its bed, open its tailgate, and dump its contents? Or have you had to stop your car to see the tree trimmer or road grader? Well, put on your hard hats and get ready to Touch A Truck as Brattleboro Memorial Hospital once again hosts this popular event, on Saturday, September 11th this year. The fun event will provide an opportunity for kids to “touch a truck” and raise dollars for BMH.
Whether it is a fire truck, ambulance, dump truck, garbage truck, tree trimmer, paver, steamroller, cement mixer, crane, tow truck, or farm truck, they will all be in the BMH parking lot from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 11th. The first hour will be horn-free so that little ears can still join in the fun! In addition, a few non-trucks will also be present—motorcycles, a school bus, a police cruiser and, hopefully, a helicopter. There will be more than 40 different kinds of trucks to touch, and to climb on, into, and all around.
For $5, children ($15 for families of three or more) ages 2-12 can climb on/in the trucks, talk to the drivers, and get their pictures taken. Two raffles will be held: $5 tickets to win a child-size John Deere Gator tractor, and $1 tickets offering a variety of prizes such as truck books, a school bus ride,S and Monadnock Speedway passes.
New this year will be the sale of kid-size hard hats and Touch A Truck t-shirts. The Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs with 50% of the proceeds going to BMH. The Book Cellar will also be on hand selling truck books with a portion of the proceeds again going to the hospital.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.bmhvt.org or at the event. The horn/siren free hour will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., and the first 200 children through the gate will receive a free truck.
