Burlington Business Association Presents 2010 Awards Dinner
The Burlington Business Association (BBA) has announced this year’s winners for their prestigious awards that honor significant contributions to Burlington. Each year the BBA’s Board of Directors and its members nominate and select the winners.
Heritage Aviation will receive the 2010 Architectural Excellence Award in honor of Hertzel N. Pasackow for its significant contribution to the physical and architectural quality of Burlington. The project consists of LEED Silver Certified General Aviation Facility located at Burlington International Airport.
The Vermont Lake Monsters will receive the 2010 Burlington Business Award for exemplary business practices, contributions to the community, promotion of a positive image for Burlington, and business success. The Burlington Business Award was established in 2002, originally as the Small Business Award.
This year Tim Halvorson will present the 2nd Annual Tim Halvorson Award to Joe Carton. Carton is the General Manager of the Courtyard Marriott Harbor Hotel with a special recognition at the Annual Dinner. Carton has given significantly to Burlington’s Downtown including serving as Chair of the Church Street Marketplace Commission and service on the board of RunVermont and significant contribution to the promotion of our tourism industry.
The public is invited to attend the BBA Annual Dinner to celebrate and applaud these significant contributors to the economic vitality of Burlington.
The theme for this year’s dinner is There’s No Place Like Home. Devine said, “Every year the BBA welcomes the chance to celebrate some of the people and places that help to make Burlington our home.” Featured guests include Governor Jim Douglas and Mayor Bob Kiss.
The dinner will be held at the Hilton Burlington from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM on Thursday, April 8th. The event begins with a cocktail reception, followed by a live auction, and the awards ceremony.
This year’s live auction items include a trip to the Bahamas, 2 cases of fin wine, a Lake Champlain Cruise aboard the Moonlight Lady, a Getaway package to the Essex Resort and Spa, and a Baseball Lover’s VIP trip to see the Washington Nationals.
