34th Annual Vermont Latin Day
With the theme "Animalia", the University of Vermont's Department of Classics will hold its 34th annual Latin Day April 9, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Patrick Gymnasium.
Vermont high school students will again gather for a day of skits, contests and displays. The event begins with a musical parade through the UVM campus and ends with the presentation of prizes and awards.
This year's Latin Day focuses on animals in ancient Greek and Roman culture. Topics include: animals in myths and fables; the use of animals for farming, religious ritual, subjects of scientific study, sports, transportation and pets. In keeping with the animal theme, students and faculty will be taking a collection for the Humane Society of Chittenden County.
