Letter to the Editor
'We' need to change how 'we' do business
To The Editor:
I am writing to disagree with your recent editorial (November 2006) that took the Vermont Business Coalition to task for their efforts during the recent campaigns.
It is vitally important that the business community and the Legislature work together to solve the issues that send more and more of our retail customers and businesses out of state.

Plan of Action
Perhaps the most interesting result of the recent election is that both the Republican
governor and the Democratic Legislature can rightly claim a mandate from the people.
Whether they can resolve, and indeed resist, the political opportunities of that situation
remain to be seen. One thing we would like to see come January is the writing of a
comprehensive plan for economic development. We suggest that any plan would be better
than no plan.

Online degrees of difficulty
by Kevin Kelley
Online teaching is spreading at an uneven rate among post-secondary institutions in
Vermont, with a few colleges committing strongly to instruction via the Internet while other
schools, including the state university, are continuing to emphasize the classroom
experience.
Overall, reliance on digital pedagogy has grown significantly in Vermont, as in the rest
of the country, in recent years.
